摘要
本研究以系统功能语言学的语法隐喻为理论基础,以我国英语语言学研究生学位论文英文摘要为语料,考察中国英语学习者学术语篇建构中逻辑语法隐喻的使用,包括使用特征、存在的问题,以及这些特征和问题的成因。研究发现:1)中国英语学习者一定程度上具备逻辑语法隐喻使用意识,但对隐喻度较低的逻辑环境之使用呈现过度态势,有碍学术语篇意义建构的抽象性与客观性;2)学习者倾向将逻辑环境置于句首,存在介词的错选和冠词的误用,以及语义韵表达失当问题,有碍学术语篇信息布局的高效性、概念表征的精准性,以及立场呈现的明晰性;3)这些使用特征和问题主要缘于学习者学术语类意识薄弱以及英/汉语之间差异的影响。本研究对外语教学具有重要启示,教师应加强学术语篇特征的教学和指导,培养学习者的学术语类意识,同时也要注重英/汉语言对比教学。
Based on the theory of grammatical metaphor and with English abstracts of dissertations by postgraduates in English linguistics as data,this study probes into the deployment of logical grammatical metaphor by Chinese EFL learners in academic discourse,including the features and problems in use,as well as the respective reasons.The findings are as follows:1)Chinese EFL learners have a certain awareness of using logical grammatical metaphor,but the employment of logical circumstance with low metaphoricity shows an excessive trend,which hinders the abstraction and objectivity of meaning expression in academic discourse;2)Chinese EFL learners'use of logical grammatical metaphor is characterized by sentence-initial tendency of logical circumstance,inappropriate deployment of prepositions and articles,as well as improper communication of semantic prosody,which hinders the efficiency of information layout,the accuracy of concept representation,and the clarity of stance revelation in academic discourse;and 3)These features and problems result from Chinese EFL learners'lack of academic genre awareness and knowledge of the differences between English and Chinese.This study has important implications for foreign language teaching.Teachers should strengthen the teaching and guidance of the characteristics of academic discourse,cultivate learners'awareness of academic genre,and pay special attention to the contrast between English and Chinese.
