On the Translated Modernist Literature and Its Significance in Constructing the Sino-Foreign Literary Relationship

摘要当代中外文学关系主要是通过翻译文学建立起来的。由于文学翻译的文化“操纵”性质,翻译文学不再是原本意义上的外国文学,而是经过本土化“改写”和“操纵”的“外国文学”。在当代中国文学语境中,“外国文学的影响”实际上是“翻译文学”的影响;当代中外文学关系,很大程度上体现的是现代主义翻译文学与创作文学的关系。也正由于文学翻译的文化“操纵”性质,现代主义翻译文学本身就内含了当代中外文学关系的最初性质,并在一定程度上决定了当代中外文学关系发展的向度和特点。以翻译文学为枢纽,西方现代主义文学、翻译文学与创作文学三者在中国当代文学系统中形成了不断衍生的中外文学动态互文关系,当代中国现代主义文学的世界文学意义,也在这种互文关系中逐渐彰显出来。 In a great measure,it is the translated foreign literary works that establish the connection between contemporary Chinese literature and foreign literature.On account of the inevitable cultural manipulation over literary translation,it can be argued that the translated works are less the quintessential foreign literature than the localized adaptations or culturally manipulated texts of the original.In regard to contemporary Chinese literature,the influence of foreign literature it has absorbed can actually be attributed to the translated works.The relation of contemporary Chinese literature and foreign literature,to a large extent,can also be regarded as the relation of the translated modernist literature and the creative ones.Similarly in light of the cultural manipulation over literary translation,the translated modernist works not merely embody some intrinsic and primal properties of the connection of contemporary Chinese literature with foreign literature,but also,to some extent,help define the tendency as well as features of this connection.In the holistic system of contemporary Chinese literature,the interactions among the original,the translated and the creative,with the translated serving as a crucial medium in the middle,established a dynamic intertextual relation between Chinese and foreign literature,during which the significance of Chinese modernist literature as one exemplar of world literature also becomes salient.
