摘要
梁漱溟曾提出东方(中国)文化"早熟"之说,亦即一种在西方对比下的非常规发展。这一说法的核心,是要展现一个已经难以自我表述的文化比它不得不借以表述的文化还更高明。而东方能被这样认识,是因为近代形成了从西方眼光看中国的倾向。外来的视角揭示出许多过去视而不见的面相,却也转换了观察者的"解释系统",造成了李文森所说的"语言转变",导致东方从学术到文化都不能自我表述,更出现"相互失语"式的表述障碍。由于深入体认到表述对文化的重要意义,梁漱溟对东方的失语不仅有现象的观察,更从"解释系统"的归属去认识,形成了较为系统的看法,晚年更有突破西方"解释系统"的尝试。
Liang Shuming has once expressed his idea of the " prematurity" of the Oriental( Chinese)culture, which refers to the unconventional evolution of Chinese culture in comparison with the West. The essence of this view is to show that a tradition, already incapable of self formulation, is in fact superior to the western culture whose discourse it has to borrow to express itself. Such a view of the Orient is the product of looking at China from the western perspective in the modern time. A transfer of perspectives has helped reveal many aspects of Chinese culture that had remained unseen before, but, on the other hand, the interpreting system has been changed at the same time. The consequence of this " shift of language," as Joseph R.Levenson put it, is to turn the Orient speechless, both academically and culturally, and what is worse is that the Orientals even feel unable to communicate among themselves. As the power of self formulation is vital to the survival of any specific culture, Liang Shuming has tried to observe and interpret the cultural aphasia of the Orient. He formed a systematic understanding of this subject and, later in life, even attempted to " break through" the western perspective of viewing China.
