In the post-May Fourth era,the regional and universal of culture was a sensitive and subtle issue,of which opinions varied greatly. The people, despite their clear notion that the East/West together didnt constitute an entire world, were accustomed to using the East/West to designate the whole world, suggesting specific concerns that are typical of this time;and those who questioned and objected, had their own target in mind.Although the people at the time conducted shared discussions without consensus or common ground,it is inappropriate for us to ignore their self-evident differences of understandings. On the contrary,it is possible for us to explore the'fundamental differences'that were concealed in those seemingly disregard of the'slight differences.'
