摘要
采用定量研究和定性研究相结合的方法,利用自建语料库比较分析了国内外五名翻译家对中国古代叙事长诗《木兰辞》的翻译。从篇章、句子、词汇三个层面对五个译本的分析发现:中外五位译者在词汇、句式层面体现了迥然各异的特色。一百年来,对《木兰辞》的英译策略逐渐从改写过渡到翻译。其中,Budd和Martin的改写的部分主要体现在"场景描写细化"、"互文修辞简化"、"文化内容略译"三个方面。Waley与许渊冲、汪榕培的译本呈现出"源语取向",较为忠信地传达了原文信息。
Based on self-constructed corpora,this paper conducted a comparative study of translators＇styles reflected in five different versions of the Chinese long narrative poem The Ballad of Mulan translated by five Chinese and foreign translators.Both quantitative and qualitative approaches are employed in collecting and analyzing data.The present research made a multi-dimensional analysis of the translators＇ styles at the levels of words,sentences and discourses and found that the five translators have displayed their unique styles.In the case of The Ballad of Mulan,the past century has witnessed a transition from rewriting to translation in terms of the translation strategy.Rewriting by Budd and Martin is mainly made in the following three aspects： detailing of scene description,simplification of antithetic or parallel sentences,and omission of cultural contents.However,the versions translated by Waley,Xu and Wang,by faithfully conveying the message of the source text,have shown a source-text-oriented tendency.
