摘要
目前,我国的英语写作教学极少注意到词的纵聚合关系和横组合关系方面的内容.然而,学生在英语写作中所犯的错误大多与词的选择和组合不当有关.本文在分析学生习作的基础上,指出英语学习者忽略两种语言对等词语义幅度和语义范围(纵聚合关系)的差异,及其相应的搭配同现(横组合关系)的差异,这是造成大学生英语写作措辞缺陷的主要原因,并就如何以纵聚合和横组合关系原理为指导,增强学生词的组合和选择的敏感性,从而提高其英语写作中的措辞能力提出几点思考.
Paradigmatic and syntamatic relations between words are seldom covered in the present English teaching in China; however, majority of the mistakes the Chinese students have made in English writing are related to choice of words and collocation. Based on the theory of semantic fields and collocation, the essay makes an analysis of paradigmatic and syntamatic relations. And also by analysis in college students’ compositions, the view is put forward that the irrelevent wording in college English writing mainly results from the ignorance of lexical value, semantic range and the relation of co-occurrence between English and Chinese equivalents. Finally, the essay has made some suggestions on how to improve the ability of wording in English writing by applying the principle of paradigmatic and syntamatic relations..
