对于'蒲安臣条约'的评价,历来众说纷纭.本文试图从华侨史的角度来审视其对清代侨务政策、华工入美、近代留学生及美国'排华'等重大事件的客观影响,重构其在这一视野下的'历史形象'.
The comments on Burlingame Treaty are always contradicted. This article tries to examine its impact on a serial of important events such as: the policy of the Qing dynasty to overseas Chinese, Chinese immigrants to the United States, modern students studying abroad, anti-Chinese in the U.S.,trying to reconstruct its history image in the vision of Overseas Chinese history.
