摘要
异于孔、孟对“辩”的谨慎态度,荀子不仅直言“君子必辩”,还对“辩”自身作了理论反思。由后者出发,我们可以理解荀子之“辩”中伦理与逻辑之间的理论联系。荀子对“辩”的重视,从方式上看,源于势、刑等暴力手段的缺失,从目的上看则源于其维护礼义之道的需求,而后者与战国末期儒家学说面临的时代困境息息相关。对于君子而言,“辩”不仅是为了卫道,更有修身的意味在内,此即“必辩”之所在。也因如此,《荀子》中论及“论辩道德”,其中的部分内容至今仍值得参考。
Different from the cautious attitude of Confucius and Mencius towards“Bian”,Xunzi not only stated that“a gentleman must Bian”,but also made a theoretical reflection on“Bian”itself.Starting from the latter,we can understand the theoretical connection between ethics and logic in Xunzi's“Bian”.Xunzi's emphasis on“Bian”stems from the lack of violent means such as potential and punishment in terms of manner,and from the need to maintain the principles of etiquette and justice in terms of purpose.The latter is closely related to the era dilemma faced by Confucianism in the late Warring States period.For a gentleman,“Bian”is not only for defending the Tao,but also for cultivating one's moral integrity.This is where“must Bian”lies.Because of this,some of the content of“the morality of Bian”in Xunzi is still worth referring to today.
