The concept of TOD originated from the New Urbanism in the 1990 s in the USA,and its original idea was closely linked to community planning which encourages public transit and walking behavior. With the promotion and evolution of the TOD concept,large-scale comprehensive development of urban-centric and transport hub sites has gradually become a research hotspot in the TOD field, but community-based TOD has not received sufficient attention. This study goes back to Singapore’s policies and practices for the integration of public transportation and new town planning in the past 40 years.By selecting representative rail transit station areas at the new town as the research object, the study analyzes the characteristics including land use pattern, spatial form, core area scale as well as the layout of public service facilities. It is expected to provide a reference for the construction of community TOD and the community-life circle planning in China.
