摘要
以名词在不同文本类型中具备的相应功能为依据,在非文学文本中指向客观世界事物的具象和在文学文本中不与任一客观事物对应的意象,用归纳法考证并发现现有生肖年翻译的谬误:将文学文本中的意象名词误作非文学文本中的具象名词来翻译。并以演绎法论证该类名词翻译的应有途径:文体意象翻译。
The translation of Chinese Zodiac Years as nouns with Chinese culture has generally been done through two traditional approaches: literal translation and transliteration of the Pinyin. This study investigates,from a stylistic perspective in both inductive and deductive ways,into the inconsistency of the present translated English versions of Chinese Zodiac Years with the original representations,which are unintelligible and therefore incorrect. This paper argues for a stylistic approach to the translation of such nouns.
