摘要
研究利用调查数据对中美研究型大学本科学生入学和调查时的15项基本能力进行了比较研究。结果显示,中国学生除了在入学和调查时的外语水平高于美国学生外,其他14项基本能力都显著低于美国学生;中国学生的批判性思维能力、清晰有效的写作能力等9项能力在调查时与美国学生的能力差距比入学时有所拉大。从招生、课程设置、教学模式、国际化、教学环境、学习成果评估等方面对研究结果进行了讨论,并建议中国研究型大学在"双一流"建设中必须优先考虑本科教育,制定本科教育战略规划,有效地实施大学招生"综合评价"制度,重新审视"以学生为中心"的教育理念和面临的挑战,促进院校研究在学生发展方面的研究,积极支持和参与具有前瞻性的本科教育研究,建立大学驱动、数据驱动的内外部相结合的学生学习成果评估体系,为制定相关政策和开展及时的改革提供信息。
This study uses survey data to compare 15 basic competencies of undergraduate students at the entry time and the time when the survey was administered between China and USA. The results show that Chinese students have a significantly lower level of almost all basic competencies except foreign language proficiency, and the gap of nine basic competencies including critical thinking skills and writing skills is even larger at the time when the survey was administered. The study discusses the results based on admissions, curriculum, instructional style, internationalization, teaching environment, and learning outcomes assessment. The study finally suggests that Chinese higher education should prioritize undergraduate education in developing Double World-Class universities, practically implement a holistic review process of und create a strategic plan for undergraduate education, re-review the idea of student-centered university and examine challenges facing Chinese higher education, advance institutional research on student development, support and participate in undergraduate educational research on future competencies students need to succeed, and finally establish a university and evidence driven learning outcomes assessment system to provide information for policy making and timely change to improve student learning outcomes.
