摘要
本研究从动态系统理论角度展开,考察了一组大学英语专业学生一学年间书面语(议论文)的句法复杂性与词汇复杂性的动态发展。通过使用语料库分析工具与动态系统理论特有的分析方法(如移动极值图、纬度线值图、蒙特卡罗模拟等),研究发现:句法复杂性与词汇复杂性相互独立,可视作书面语复杂性系统下的两个子系统。句法复杂性内部指标高度相关,但在发展过程中具有个体间与个体内变异性。句法复杂性与词汇复杂性有时达到动态平衡,有时相互竞争有限资源,取决于个体学习者书面语发展所处的不同状态。本研究表明动态系统理论可为二语书面语发展研究提供有益补充。
This longitudinal study adopts the Dynamic Systems Theory(DST) to investigate Chinese EFL learners' syntactic and lexical complexity development. Using corpus-linguistic tools and several DST techniques, it is found that syntactic complexity and lexical complexity, while independent of each other,were subsumed under a higher written language complexity system. The componential elements within the syntactic complexity subsystem were highly correlated but developed with inter- and intra-individual variability. Depending on individual learners' developmental states, the syntactic and lexical complexity measures sometimes achieved a dynamic equilibrium but sometimes competed for limited resources. This study shows that the DST perspective can provide a complementary framework for examining the longterm development of L2 written language.
