摘要
本文基于中国英语学习者的作文依存树库,以依存距离量化句法关系难易程度,考察学习者写作错误、依存距离与二语水平三者之间的关系。结果显示,中低水平学习者在长距离依存关系下错误率较高,这与学习者的二语熟练度较低和认知机制有关;高水平学习者由于熟练度提高,采用组块记忆,处理复杂句法关系的能力增强,所以对长距离依存关系的认知约束不敏感,错误明显减少;中低水平学习者在长距离依存关系易出现成分缺失、时态和介词错误,主要是由认知约束、二语输入和母语负迁移等因素导致的。
Based on Chinese EFL Learners’Dependency Treebank,this paper adopts dependency distance as a metric of syntactic difficulty to explore the relationship between learners’errors,dependency distance and L2 proficiency level.The findings show that low-and middle-level learners have higher error rates under long-distance dependency relations,which is related to the learners’L2 proficiency and cognitive mechanism.High-level learners,with improved English proficiency,could use cognitive strategies such as chunking to enhance their ability to process difficult syntactic relations.Therefore,errors in long-distance dependency relations are significantly reduced.Lowand middle-level learners are prone to make errors,such as missing of components,errors in tense and misuse of prepositions in long-distance dependency relations,largely due to cognitive constraints,insufficient L2 input and negative transfer from L1.
