The experiment was conducted to study the effects of α-galactosidase on growth per- formance and serum biochemical parameters in Arbor Acres (AA)broilers fed with corn-soybean meal basal diet. 360 Arbor Acres (AA) broilers at the age of 1 d were divided into 5 treatments with 6 replicate of 12 chicks each. Five treatments were supplemented with 0,0.05,0.10,0.15 and 0.20 g/kg α-galactosidase in the basal diets, respectively. The experiment lasted for six weeks. The effects of α-galactosidase on average daily weight gain, average daily feed intake, feed/gain during 0-21 d, 22-42 d, the contents of GLU, TP, ALB, TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C in serum at the age of 21 and 42 d and the number of intestinal microbial flora at the age of 42 d were studied. The result showed that supplemental α-galactosidase levels of 0. 10,0. 15 and 0.20 g/kg influenced significantly daily gain by 2.56%-4.54% during 0-21 d,22-42 d (P〈0. 05) ,and ruduced signifi- cantly feed/gain by 1.91%-4.59% during 22-42 d (P〈0.05). It was concluded that α-galactosi- dase could reduce the contents of TC, TG, LDL-C in serum, and increase the contents of TP, ALB, HDL-C in serum, the number of Lactobacillus increased significantly(P〈0.05) and that of E. coli decreased(P〈0.05). In a word,α-galactosidase could improve growth performance of Ar- bor Acres (AA)broilers, and the optimal supplemental level of α-galactosidase was 0.1-0.2 g/kg.
