摘要
为检验孙艺风(2006)提出的"文化离散",选取《道德经》第一章的华人英译本和英美译本作为材料,让西南大学40名留学生完成"《道德经》第一章英译对比量表",初步探讨了文化离散在典籍英译中的实践性。结果表明:(1)华人译本的流畅性总体上显著优于英美译本,而在措辞、韵律方面不及英美译本,措辞上的差异达到显著水平,韵律上则无显著差别;(2)离散体验对目的语读者有积极影响,有助于获取更多的异域文化信息;(3)在文化信息传达上,离散体验对译者无积极影响,相反,英美译本所传递的文化信息略多于华人译本,但差异未达到显著水平。
The notion of "cultural discreteness" in translation was originally proposed by Sun Yifeng (2006). This paper is a first attempt to testify the validity of "cultural discreteness" by making a contrastive .analysis of English and American versions and Chinese American versions of Too Te Ching. A group of 40 students are chosen as the subjects to fill the contrast scale of the first chapter of Too Te Ching in order for probing into the feasibility of "cul- ture discreteness" in Chinese classics translation. The results show as follows : 1 ) The sentence fluency of Chinese American version is significantly superior over English and American versions, whereas it is inferior to English and American versions in dictions and rhythms, namely, there is a significant difference in dictions but no remarkable difference in rhythms. 2) Experience of discreteness has a positive effect on the target readers whereby it is conducive to acquiring more exotic experience; 3 ) Experience of discreteness has no positive effect on the translators in conveying source culture, in contrast, more source culture information is transmitted in English and American versions, while the sight differentiation cannot reach the significant level.
