摘要
文章着重讨论了功能翻译的目的论在科技翻译中的应用。功能翻译理论研究认为:目的论除了忠实性法则(fidelity rule)还有连贯性法则(coherence rule)。功能翻译论提出的连贯性法则和忠实性法则在很大程度上有助于译者较好地实现译文的文本功能,可以为译者进行翻译提供两个基本的翻译标准:(1)连贯性法则要求译文必须让接受者理解,实现语内连贯;(2)忠实性法则要求译文尽可能地忠实于原文,实现语际连贯。另外文章也对科技翻译工作者提出了更高的要求。强调作为一名科技文献的译者不但要有扎实的英文功底,而且还要懂得大量的科技专业知识。
This paper employs the functionally-oriented top-down methodology recommended by the functionalists to make a descriptive study of translation approaches in science and technology. In the functionalist translation theory, Skopos theory includes two rules： the fidelity rule and the coherence rule. Using the two rules, translators can better inherit and pass the original information to translate the texts in precise terms. Furthermore, this paper also thinks that the translators of technical texts should hold two capabilities： profound English knowledge and specialized knowledge in the field of science and technology.
