摘要
从语用等效翻译的实质入手,分析翻译过程中语用等效与文化信息传递之间存在的矛盾,而译者的翻译目的和态度直接影响了译者对这对矛盾的处理和翻译策略的选择。基于以上分析,对赛珍珠翻译中国古典小说《水浒传》的目的进行了探讨,指出赛珍珠的翻译目的与其翻译策略的对应关系,从而说明历年来国内学界对赛珍珠译本批评的欠妥之处。
Based on the nature of pragmatic equivalence translation, the paper analyzes the conflict between pragmatic equivalence and cultural factors disseminating in the course of translating, while a translator＇s purpose and attitude to translating will directly affect how s/he address the conflict and adopt the translation strategies. On the ground of the analysis above, it discusses the purpose for which Pearl S.Buck translats the Chinese classic Shui Hu Zhuan and indicates a coincidence relation between the translation purpose and translation criteria of Pearl S. Buck in the process of translating, aiming to point out that there should be some reconsideration on the evaluation of Pearl S.Buck＇s English version of Shui Hu Zhuan made by the domestic translation critics.
