摘要
《水浒》是中国古典文学四大名著之一,作者在创造艺术形象、塑造人物典型性格时,大量地使用了对偶句。这就使得《水浒》这部古典文学巨著的英语翻译产生了较大难度。《水浒》的英译本Outlaws of the Marsh的作者Sidney Shapiro在翻译对偶句的时候,根据中英文不同的文化内涵和表达方式,依情况分别采用了直译和意译,基本上较忠实、准确地表达了中文对偶句的原意。
Outlaws of the Marsh is one of four major masterpieces of Chinese classical literature. When creating the artistic images and describing their typical personality, the author uses the antithesis sentences in a large amount. This makes it rather difficult to translate Outlaws of the Marsh into English. The author of the English translation Outlaws of the Marsh, when translating antithesis, adopts the literal translation and free translation, in accordance with different culture and expression between Chinese and English. He expresses the Chinese original meanings of antithesis faithfully and accurately.
