Objective Electrically evoked auditory brainstem responses (EABR) were recorded in multichannel cochlear implant (CI) users to determine the function of auditory conducting system and to acquire the objective hearing threshold of responses. Methods Electrically evoked auditory brainstem responses (EABR) were recorded in 6 deaf patients who were experienced users of a Nucleus multichannel cochlear implant (CI). Electrodes in sustained location which involved basal, middle and apical part of the cochlear were selected as the stimulated electrodes, for each electrode position EABR were recorded , and threshold of EABR were compared with perceptual threshold (T-level) and threshold of NRT.Results All studied electrode position in all 6 patients had clearly identifiable waveform with good repeatability in 175 current level. With the electrodes in basal, middle and apical part of the cochlear were stimulated, the average latency of EABR waveⅢ were 1.83±0.19 ms,1.80±0.18 ms,1.68±0.23 ms respectively, while waveⅤ were 3.90±0.16 ms,3.74±0.18 ms,3.62±0.24 ms; the average threshold of EABR were 165.33±7.66,162.67±7.28,153.33±8.02 current level respectively. Conclusion ①.EABR is a reliable technique in evaluating the function of auditory conducting system in cochlear implant users. ②. EABR is an objective and accurate technique in acquiring the hearing threshold of responses after cochlear implant.
