摘要
本文辨析中国近代高等教育产生的历史，提出福建船政学堂为近代最早的高等教育机构的观点，论述福建船政学堂在办学体制及模式、推动社会近代化发展和促进中西文化交流等方面的历史地位和深刻影响。
This paper examines the emergence of modern Chinese higher education and argues that Fujian Navigational Administration School is the earliest higher learning institution in modern China.Also, the paper deals with the historical standing and profound influence of Fujian Navigational Administration School in such aspects as its system and pattern of school running, its role in advancing China's social modernization and in promoting the cultural exchange between China and the Western countries.
