Abstract An information theory as formulated by C. E. Shannon decades ago may help determine the quality of information in communication. However, as measurement of the quantity which happens to be the key notion in such a theory is difficult, it is later superseded by a theory of knowledge knowledge structure entailing several kinds of cognitive (or mental) models. In this paper, the provenance, the structure and the construction of the model are adumbrated and exemplified.
