Confucian lesson books for women were introduced to Japan as early as the Nara period(710—784),but did not receive much attention until the Edo period(1603—1867).During the Edo period, the Japanese not only engraved and translated Confucian lesson books for women, but also created a large number of their own lesson books for women based on them, thus realizing the development of lesson books for women in Japan. The Japanization of Confucian lesson books for women was mainly manifested in three aspects:Firstly, the Japanization of the materials of admonition was realized by taking the women of the country as the target of writing.Secondly, the Japanization of the mode of admonition was realized by forming three systems of Japanese lesson books for women.Thirdly, while critically absorbing Confucian ethics,it also advocated the concept of“five obstacles and three obediences”,realizing the Japanization of the main purpose of the admonition. The Japanization of Confucian lesson books for women is the process of imitating and adapting Confucian lesson books for women, and finally producing Japanese lesson books for women, after its transmission to Japan. The development of Confucian lesson books for women in Japan during the Edo period was a response to the need for ethical training of women in the family under the feudal“IE”system, and was an inevitable trend in the development of Japanese feudal society.
