摘要
对于以英美文学为主攻方向的研究生 ,开展英诗的教学和研究是否很有必要 ,学界同仁的看法颇不一致。作者根据多年培养英美文学研究生和本科生的经验 ,认为很有必要 ,并就如何开展英诗教学以及如何帮助学生提高英诗的研究能力等问题提出若干看法。
On the necessity of teaching and research of Engli sh poetry, scholars of foreign language educational circle hold quite different vi ews. Drawing upon his many years' experience in teaching English literature to g raduate and undergraduate students, the author contends that teaching and resear ch of English poetry are quite essential and should be made a constituent part o f the English program of study, and viewing in this light, puts forth some ideas on how to conduct teaching of English poetry and how to help students develop t heir research competence.
