摘要
The two famous Britain female writers, Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte, published their famous works-Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre respectively in 1813 and 1847. These two novels are popular and in great demand at all times since then. Although the two novelists belong to the Romantic Period and the Victorian Period in English literature, their novels mentioned in this thesis are both mainly focus on the heroines'(Elizabeth Bennet and Jane Eyre) attitudes towards love, marriage and life. The thesis applies the approaches of comparison and analysis with the reference of the backgrounds of the two novelists and the social milieu in which they lived. The authors express their own attitudes towards love and marriage through the words of the heroines. We come to the conclusion that both of Elizabeth and Jane have their own independent opinions on love and marriage, but they show their equality and independence with men in different ways.
