Zhang Zhongjing summarized the symptoms of exogenous febrile disease during its development and change into six stages according to the number of Yin and Yang qi,the level of cold and heat syndrome differentiation, and the location of visceral disease, including Solar disease,Yangming disease,Shaoyang disease,Taiyin disease,Shaoyin disease,Jueyin disease, and described the main symptoms, pulse conditions, treatment, nursing care, and transmission, reverse transmission, and direct and moderate transmission. Most of the Solar diseases are early febrile diseases, which should be treated by sweating to eliminate evil or harmonizing Yingwei. Yangming’s disease is mostly a fever extreme period, and treatment should focus on clearing away heat, relieving internal organs and eliminating pathogenic factors, and attention should also be paid to the protection of Yang qi. Most of Shaoyang’s diseases are in the middle stage of febrile disease, and it should be treated with both benefiting qi and eliminating pathogens.Taiyin disease is usually the late stage of febrile disease and should be treated with warming and tonifying Yang qi. Shaoyin diseases are usually at the later stage of febrile diseases and should be cured by returning to Yang and consolidating the body. Jueyin disease is usually in the late stage of febrile disease and should be treated with returning Yang and clearing heat, saving Yin and dispelling cold.
