摘要
马礼逊的《三字经》译本以《三字经》早期中文版本为底本。译本没有遵循中文原文中的固有格式,而是采用“直译”与“意译”相结合、“脚注”与“行间注”共辅助的翻译策略,体现出以“读者”为中心的翻译理念。译本中亦存在一些漏译甚至是错译之处,在一定程度上代表了早期中国蒙学典籍英译的普遍特征。
Robert Morrison’s translation of San Tsi King(The Three-Character Scripture)was based on the early version of San Tsi King.Morrison’s translation did not rigidly follow the form of the original Chinese text,but adopted the translation strategy of“literal translation”and“free translation”,using“footnotes”and“interlinear notes”,reflecting the reader-centered translation concept.There were also some omissions and mistakes in Morrison’s version,which,to some extent,represents the common characteristics of the early English translation of traditional Chinese enlightenment reading.
