The founders of sociology all started with the civilization process of modernity. As an important part of the cultural process, sports civilization should gradually become an important topic in sports sociology research. The study believes that the concept of“civilization”has experienced a complex and profound semantic evolution process, and its evolution history represents the complex ideological process of mankind’s pursuit of civilization.Sports civilization, which comes from“civilization”,is closer to Elias’s“civilization”context.Based on Elias’s“civilization”perspective, from ancient Greek competition to modern sports, the modern sense of sports civiliza⁃tion occurs, and with the process of civilization,it evolves from modernity to digitalization. On this basis, the theo⁃retical construction of sports civilization is explored from the four dimensions of connotation, theory, attributes, and hierarchy. That is,the basic connotation of sports civilization is explained by the mutual construction of social occurrence and psychological occurrence;its theoretical basis is the theory of figuration and civilizing processes;it presents the attributes of sports civilization from three perspectives:process, history and rationality,as well as three levels:individual level, specific social level and the level of all people.
