摘要
本文基于贸易协定规则文本,测度不同国家对之间贸易协定环境条款深度,并结合2000—2018年64个国家矩阵50个细分行业的贸易隐含碳数据,实证探究贸易协定环境条款深度对贸易隐含碳的影响。研究发现,提升贸易协定环境条款深度能够显著降低贸易隐含碳,国家间绿色技术合作、国家内部环境治理能力和碳生产率发挥了重要传导机制。异质性分析表明,不同种类贸易协定环境条款的作用效果具有显著差异,与碳排放相关度较高的条款、贸易联系紧密度较高的国家组合、蕴含在出口产品中的国外碳排放,在提升贸易协定环境条款深度时对贸易隐含碳的削减效果更强;贸易协定环境条款深度提升对减少非技术密集型行业和高碳排放密集度行业贸易隐含碳的效果更加显著。
The construction of trade power and green low-carbon economy are the common goals of all countries in the new era.In this context,based on the text of trade agreement rules,this 181paper identifies 14 categories and 295 types of environmental clauses,and measures the depth of environmental clauses in different trade agreements.Using the data of embodied carbon emissions in trade in 50 sub-sectors of 64 countries from 2000 to 2018,this paper empirically explores the impact of the depth of environmental clauses in trade agreements on embodied carbon emissions in trade.The paper finds that whether it is intermediate product trade,final product trade or total trade,the improvement of depth of environmental clauses in trade agreements can significantly reduce the embodied carbon emissions in trade.This conclusion remains robust across various tests.In addition,improving the depth of environmental clauses in trade agreements reduces the embodied carbon emissions in trade by promoting green technology cooperation between countries,enhancing a country's environmental governance capacity and improving carbon productivity.Heterogeneity analysis shows that different subdivisions of environmental clauses have obvious heterogeneity in reducing embodied carbon emissions in trade.The effect is more obvious in countries with stronger trade ties and the terms that are more strongly correlated with carbon emissions,and it is also more significant in foreign carbon emissions contained in trade,low technology intensive and high carbon emission-intensive industries.This study provides a reference for countries to improve the depth of environmental clauses in trade agreements to reduce embodied carbon emissions in trade while expanding the participation network of trade agreements and achieving sustainable development.
