While interdisciplinary project learning is one of the main teaching methods for developing students’core literacy, the stop-motion animation production is suitable as a vehicle for carrying out the interdisciplinary projects, since it can integrate knowledge from multiple disciplines such as science, technology, mathematics, engineering and art,and it is highly practical and comprehensive as well.Based on the 5EX design model theory, this paper takes the work“Dawn”,which advocates the harmony between human beings and nature,as a case study of stop-motion animation production. There are seven teaching activities designed to closely integrate investigation and practice with hands-on production to complete the creation and presentation of stopmotion animation projects and promote the development of students’comprehensive abilities, namely, entering the context and exploring the project, asking questions and making plans, independent investigation and scripting,Lego building and mathematical application, engineering design and animation production, knowledge development and creative roadshow, and evaluation and reflection and revision of the work.
