摘要
副文本作为翻译文本不可或缺的组成部分,传递着多样化信息,对译本研究具有启示意义。陈荣捷《传习录》英译本中,副文本担当着重要角色,但相关研究屈指可数。本研究聚焦陈荣捷英译《传习录》的副文本构成要素及其功能,以期揭橥陈荣捷《传习录》英译本的价值。研究发现,陈荣捷英译《传习录》的副文本在阐释译者翻译观和翻译动机、重现源语语境、弥合文化差异、建构中国古代哲人形象与促进译本接受等方面具有积极作用,这为中国哲学典籍“走出去”提供借鉴。
As an indispensable part of the translated text,paratext transmits diverse information and enlightens research of translated texts.However,there are few studies on the paratext of Wing-tist Chan’s translation of Chuanxilu.This paper analyzes and discusses the elements as well as their functions in the paratext of Wing-tist Chan’s translation of Chuanxilu,so as to reveal the value of Wing-tist Chan’s English version.The research finds that the paratext helps explain the translator’s translation views and translation motives,restore the original context and bridge a cultural gap,as well as construct the image of a sage and promote the acceptance of this text.Thus,it will provide a reference for the dissemination of Chinese philosophical classics overseas.
