摘要
《习近平谈治国理政》英译本自面世以来,国际销量可观,影响深远。但是《习近平谈治国理政》中部分内容的英译似乎显得不那么忠实。因此,本文梳理外宣翻译中的忠实概念,考察《习近平谈治国理政》英译实例,探讨忠实的必要性、相对性、多维性和恒定性,阐明《习近平谈治国理政》英译的忠实特点。结合国内外机构翻译的相关研究成果,我们发现采用机构翻译视角可以更好地解释《习近平谈治国理政》成功英译的忠实属性,既可为《习近平谈治国理政》英译过程中体现出的归化趋势提供理论阐释,也为新时代构建融通中外对外传播话语体系背景下我国机构翻译的实践发展提供策略建议。
Since its translation and international release, The Governance of China has been a success in terms of copies sold and influences exerted worldwide.However, some renderings seem to be “unfaithful”.Based on a review of faithfulness in Chinese publicity translation, this article elucidates its necessity, relativity, multi-dimensionality, and constancy before confirming faithfulness as the hallmark of the renderings.It is argued that institutional translation could provide a better account of faithfulness found in the renderings of the translated work.Within the framework of institutional translation, the article examines the prominent domestication trend showcased in discursively reconfiguring meaning in translating the volumes into English.The purpose of the examination is two-fold: to provide a theoretical account of the translatorial success, and to offer feasible policy options for establishing an integrated Chinese discourse system that is capable of effective international communication.
