20世纪上半期,日本的药学家依托殖民扩张,在“汉药研究”名目下对中国大陆药物进行了大量调查研究。最初,“满铁中央试验所”为掠夺中国东北资源而研究当地的药用植物。之后,“满洲医科大学”将汉药研究制度化,建立了“中国医学研究室”。20世纪30年代,日本药物学家借助上海自然科学研究所将“汉药研究”推向中国南部乃至海外地区。在侵华战争时期,华北伪政权建立伪北京大学中药研究所,为编辑占领区的“汉药典”做准备。与此同时,伪满洲国召集日本及其殖民地的汉药研究者推出伪《满洲国汉药典》。汉药研究成为日本殖民医学的历史过程,凸显出日本在帝国构建过程中对中国传统医学的滥用,是近代科学研究与殖民主义相结合的重要案例。
In the first half of the 20century,pharmaceutical researchers of Japan,depending on the Japanese colonial expansion,conducted a large number of investigations on the Chinese drugs in the context of ‘Kampo medicine research’. At first,the Central Testing Institute of the South Manchurian Railway Cooperation studied the local medicinal plants of China in order to plunder the resources of Northeast China. Afterwards,Manchuria Medical University institutionalised the research of Kampo medicine and established‘Research Laboratory of the Chinese Medicine’. In the 1930s,with the help of Shanghai Institute of Natural Sciences,the Japanese pharmacologists promoted ‘Kampo medicine research’to southern China and even overseas areas. During the Japanese War of Aggression against China,the Japanese and its puppets established the Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Peking University in order to prepare for editing ‘Kampo Pharmacopoeia’in the occupied areas. At the same time,the puppet Manchukuo convened the Chinese medicine researchers in Japan and its colonies to launch the puppet Manchukuo Kampo Pharmacopoeia. The history of how Kampo medicine research became the Japanese colonial science highlights Japan’s abuse of the Chinese traditional medicine in the process of its empire-building. This is also an important case which shows the combination of modern scientific research and colonialism.
