美国博士生分流淘汰机制运行特征与启示——以4所顶尖大学为例

摘要 斯坦福大学、约翰·霍普金斯大学、宾夕法尼亚大学和威斯康星大学麦迪逊分校4所美国顶尖高校在实施博士生分流淘汰机制过程中坚持过程管理和渐进式提升的分流理念,在制度运行中以课程为杠杆循序渐进逐级分流、以学术试用期为缓冲器进行学业预警、以资格考试为过渡点推动阈限跨越、以多样化选择代替单一式出口,并构建了组织保障、师资保障、技术保障以及善后保障等保障体系。我国高校在构建分流退出制度时,应树立过程质量观,明确责任主体并完善相关的机制保障。 Four top American universities, Stanford University, The Johns Hopkins University, the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Wisconsin Madison, adhere to the diversion concept of process management and gradual improvement in the implementation of the doctoral diversion and elimination mechanism.In the operation of the system, the four universities use the curriculum as a lever for gradual diversion, use the academic probation period as a buffer for academic early warning, take the qualification examination as the transition point to promote students’ threshold crossing, replace single export with diversified options, and built a guarantee system such as organization guarantee, teacher guarantee, technical guarantee and aftercare guarantee.When constructing the diversion exit system, colleges and universities in China should establish the concept of process quality, clarify the subject of responsibility and improve the relevant guarantee mechanism.
