摘要
德拉布尔的《红王妃》以新颖的创作手法吸引了学界和大众传媒的广泛关注,并引发了学界关于小说中后现代叙事以及幽魂叙事的探讨。然而,这些颇有价值的研究却忽略了小说中最为独特的设置——幽灵,事实上幽灵的存在融合了作家在小说的修辞维度、历史维度、时间维度上的种种期待。德拉布尔通过对小说中幽灵的书写关联到历史上的一些重要事件。这样的创作不仅体现了她本人的后现代创作观,也间接促成了作家对当下时代的关照以及个体存在问题的拷问。
Margaret Drabble’s novel The Red Queen has been highly concerned by academia and mass media since its publication. The creative techniques in the novel have been touched off a heated debate about the postmodern narrative and the ghost narrative within the academia. However, among the valuable researches, the most unique setting, i.e. the ghost is ignored. Actually, the ghost has fused into the rhetorical dimension, historical dimension and even the time dimension that Drabble expects to fulfill in the novel. Meanwhile, Drabble’s depiction of such a ghost has related to some important events in history. It not only represents her postmodernist writing standpoint, but also helps to bring out her unique care of the times and individual existence in the contemporary world.
