摘要
全英文的大学物理课对一些将要接受全面全英文教学的中国大学生而言非常重要。因为语言造成的学习障碍导致部分学生学习效果很差,甚至难以适应后续全英文专业课的学习。为了丰富这方面尚显不足的教学研究,本文以西南交大利兹大学中外合作办学项目中为工程专业大一学生开设的全英文授课大学物理为例,交叉对比各门基础课成绩,分析了大学物理学习与英语能力之间的关联。并且分别收集整理了部分学习困难学生和一般学生的反馈,对学生的情况进行了多角度的展示和简要分析,以期对同类型的教学活动产生一定借鉴意义。同时也提出了一些针对性的改进建议。
University Physics taught in English is very important to some Chinese college students who are going to receive education completely using English as the medium of instruction(EMI).Because of the language barrier,some studentslearning outcomes are poor,and it might be even difficult for them to adapt to the following-up EMI courses.In order to enrich the teaching research which is still insufficient in this field,this paper takes the EMI University Physics for the engineering freshmen in the Sino-foreign cooperative project between Southwest Jiaotong University and Leeds University as an example,cross-compares the results of EMI courses for freshmen,and analyzes the relationship between the University Physics and studentsEnglish ability.The feedback from some students with learning difficulties and general students are collected and sorted,so that some insights of the learning situations of students are displayed and briefly analyzed.Finally,some suggestions for improvement are proposed.
