Spatial Distribution and Location Strategy of the“New Retail”in China

摘要 随着互联网、人工智能等技术的渗透,零售业态不断更新迭代。目前,新零售这一新兴业态已经融入到社会生活的方方面面,并且逐渐成为零售业发展的新增长点和推动城市经济弯道超车的切入点。基于演化理论视角,对中国新零售空间的分布格局与区位选择机制展开研究,并得到以下结论:①中国新零售空间的分布整体呈现出不平衡发展格局,东部沿海水平较高,而中西部内陆水平较低;②部分市域在原有良好的城市零售基础下,新零售空间也得到了较为快速的发展,但也有部分市域借助新零售这一新经济要素迅速崛起,实现了排名等级的跃进;③不同新零售品类基于不同的营运特性,其空间分布呈现异质性,具有各自的布局偏好;④新零售空间的区位选择既遵循了路径依赖的演化特征也为部分地区提供了区位窗口机会,是城市与区域原有发展基础、科技创新特质和政企引导行为共同作用的结果。 With the increasing impact of Internet and Artificial Intelligence technologies,retail formats update and change constantly.As an emerging retail format,the"New Retail"has not only blended into nearly all aspects of social life at present,but also become a new growth point for China’s physical retailing and enhanced the economic competitiveness of cities.From the perspective of evolutionary theory,this paper attempts to analyze the distribution pattern and location selection mechanism of the new retail in China.The findings are as follows.1)The spatial distribution of the New Retail in China presents an overall uneven pattern,with a higher level in the eastern coast regions and a lower level in the middle and western inland regions.2)Some cities have a relatively rapid development of the new retail under the good original retail base,while some of the backward areas also rely on the new retail to rise rapidly and achieve a leap in development.3)Different categories of new retail,based on different operating characteristics,present heterogeneous spatial distribution and have their own layout preference.4)The location selection of the new retail not only follows the evolutionary characteristics of path dependence,but also provides the window of locational opportunity for some regions,which is the joint action of the urban original development basis,technological innovation capability and the guiding actions of the government and enterprises.
