Objective To analyse the results between MBTI and KLSI and to know what experiences and traits the medical students with different personality types have in the course of studying. Methods Using Myers-Briggs type indicator(MBTI) and Kolb learning styles inventory(KLSI),we surveyed 17 460 students in 11 medical colleges. Results It showed statistical significance of the distribution types of experimential learning styles in both the four personality dismensions and in different personality types(x^2=132.360, 166.464, 222.395, 313.830, 737.839, P<0.01). In 16 Personality Types, the highest percentages of the diverging type were INFP, ENTP and ISFP(90.3%, 89.7% and 88.9%), the highest percentages of the assimilating type were ISTJ(23.8%), the highest percentages of the converging type were ESTJ(4.7%), and the highest percentages of the accommodating type were ESTP(9.8%). Conclusion The medical students with different personality preferences have different experimential learning styles preferences. Those with different personality types have different experimential learning styles types. The differences among different sorts of learning styles are not clear.
