摘要
通过分析哈金的两部作品《等待》和《自由生活》的主要华人形象,由处于中国文革时期边缘化的停滞落后形象转型为容身于美国社会的华裔移民新形象,对比分析了两种华人形象具体的异同点,揭露了哈金作品中华人形象转型背后的意义,即哈金作为作家自我东方主义倾向的消解和作为移民的文化身份认同建构的变化,并指出在全球化的大背景下,移民的文化身份是一种在异质文化中不断从冲突走向融合,并摒弃了二元对立的更为开放性的、包容性的杂糅文化身份。
Through the analysis of Chinese image presented between Ha Jin’s two representative works,“Waiting”and“A Free Life”,it can be shown that“Waiting”presents a stagnated and marginalized other image during the Chinese cultural revolution and“A Free Life”depicts an immigrant image in the new era.This paper investigates the similarities and differences of the two types of Chinese images and reveals the significance of the transformation of Chinese image.To be more specific,it points out Ha Jin’s cultural identity both as a Chinese American writer with the dissolution of self-orientalization and as an immigrant with a changing hybrid cultural identity and further explores that in the context of globalization,the construction of cultural identity of immigrants will be focused more on cultural integration in a more open-minded and inclusive hybrid culture system instead of cultural conflicts in binary opposition.
