Since 2000, the study of the university history of the Republic of China has formed an important academic growth point in the academic circles of the Mainland. With the emergence of relevant research results, the study of the university history of the Republic of China has also jumped out of the existing research framework, and its focus becomes more novel and diverse, and the writing paradigm has undergone a fundamental transformation. This article will draw a number of ideas and methods that have implications from a large number of studies, and condense some key words, namely, the rediscovery of the “party-state perspective” and the research on the university history beyond the dualistic opposition of “government-school”, university’s “nationalization”,“localization” and its “local knowledge”, and the universities and knowledge production and academic transformation in modern China. Based on the above, the article outlines the new trends and approaches in the studies of the university history of the Republic of China in the mainland academic circles. At the same time, the article summarizes and reflects on the studies of the university history of the Republic of China from the aspects of perspective, theory and materials. How to summarize the paradigm trend of the university history research from the past academic experience, and to reflect on how to transcend and break through the existing research model, are also the goals of this article.
