On Global Trend of Engineering Education Accreditation

摘要 世界范围内工程教育认证近年取得很大进展,主要是因为工程领域具有相较没有地域性、有共通的科学基础、能直接影响经济建设、教学成果易计量等特性。本文首先介绍20世纪美国ABET为首的工程教育认证发展,其次对世界影响力最大的华盛顿协议作了介绍,接着说明认证规范的精神和要点,特别是教育目标和核心能力、顶石课程设计、持续改善机制,再次简单介绍世界上华盛顿协议以外的适用不同工程教育层次的协议平台,最后,针对研究所教育认证作了试探性讨论。 The recent global advancement in accreditation of engineering programs is mainly due to the fact that the engineering profession is not a local profession, it has common scientific basis, it contributes greatly to economic growth, and its education achievements can be easily measured. This article starts by introducing the development of accreditation on engineering education led by ABET of the United States. Second, a brief description is given of the Washington Accord, the most influential platform for engineering accreditation in the world. Next, summary is presented of the spirit and key points of engineering accreditation, including particularly the objectives and core competence, plus the design of capstone course, with highlight on the establishment of the mechanism of continuous improvement. Following a brief of the other accords beyond the Washington Accord for various levels of engineering education, an investigation will be given to the accreditation of graduate degrees.
