摘要
翻译不仅是语言符号之间的转换,更是不同文化之间的交流与传递。符号学为翻译研究提供了全面而系统的理论指导,有助于深入理解语言符号所蕴含的意义。利用莫里斯符号学的三大意义即指称意义、言内意义和语用意义,对《西游记》中的人物名称及其英译加以分析。
Translation was not only the transformation of linguistic symbols,but also the communication and transmission between different cultures.Semiotics provided a comprehensive and systematic theoretical guidance for translation studies and helps to understand the meaning of linguistic symbols in depth.This paper made an analysis of the names of the characters in Journey to the West and their English translation by using the three major meanings of Morris'semiotics,namely,referential meaning,linguistic meaning and pragmatic meaning.
