"Achieving Immortality" is the ultimate goal and fundamental belief of Taoism. In the process of being spreading to the southwestern ethnic minority areas, Taoism is actively integrated into the life and customs of the local indigenous peoples, and Taoist belief in immortality impacts on their outlook on life and death. On the basis of preserving their primitive religious beliefs and traditions, the Southwest ethnic minorities combine the belief of "accomplishing the human immortal level" of Taoism with their own views of life and death, which is the evaluating, choosing and identifying with the Taoist culture, and the degree of identification is closely related to their own historical background, cultural tradition, and the depth of communication with foreign Taoist culture.
