摘要
"刑不上大夫"这句话出自《礼记·曲礼上》,在《二十四史》正文中被征引了十八次,频率相当高。但古人对这句话的理解却有正确与错误之分。许嘉璐主编《二十四史全译》的译文,今人(译者)对这句话的理解虽然也有正确与错误之分,但又与古人的理解并不完全一致。有下列三种情况:一是正文理解不误,译文也不误,凡9例;二是正文理解错误,译文也跟着错误,凡4例;三是正文理解正确,译文却理解错误,凡5例。
＂Scholar-bureaucrat not by penalty＂which was cited in ErShiSiShi eighteen times derived from QuLi in The Book of Rites,however some of the ancient people couldn＇t understand the sentence correctly.According to the translation of ErShiSiShi edited by XuJialu,we found that some of the translators also couldn＇t understand the sentence correctly.We can devide them into three conditions.Firstly,both the understanding of the text and the translation are right,and there are nine examples.Secondly,neither the understanding of the text nor the translation is right,andthere are four examples.Lastly,the understanding of the text is right,but the translation is wrong,and there are five examples.
