摘要
话语标记语语义空泛却功能繁多。前人虽发现话语标记语的功能与其词汇语义关系密切,却未能揭示其中机制。本文借鉴框架语义学、语用学及历时语言学的研究成果,通过考察话语标记语you know的语义演化历程及其语用功能,探究话语标记语的语义痕迹及其触发语用功能的机制。研究发现,you know仍保留了know所激活框架的主要元素,这些元素依赖语用推理获得赋值,赋值引发的推理过程产生语用功能,推理过程因语境变化而产生差异,从而导致功能的多样性。本研究有助于明确语义痕迹触发语用功能的机制,同时完善框架语义学的理论模型并拓展其研究领域。
Discourse Markers( DMs) are vague in meaning but rich in functions. Previous studies have identified a close connection between DMs' pragmatic functions and their lexical meanings,but fail to account for the mechanism behind. In order to explain the nature of DMs' semantic traces and the mechanism by which they give rise to pragmatic functions,this paper explores the semantic evolution process and the pragmatic functions of the discourse marker " you know" by drawing insights from frame semantics,pragmatics and diachronic linguistics. Analyses showthat"you know"still keeps the major frame elements of the frame evoked by know. The value assignment processes of these elements rely on pragmatic inferences,which give rise to the pragmatic functions of "you know". Meanwhile,these inference processes are sensitive to the variations of the contexts,which results in the diversity of the pragmatic functions. This study helps to elucidate the mechanism by which DMs' semantic traces give rise to their pragmatic functions,while it also further develops Frame Semantics and extends the scope of its application.
