Objective To investigate and analyze the effect of follow-up results of the incidence of thrombotic diseases in regular blood donors on the rate of blood donation in potential donors. Methods From February 2008 to February 2012,800 regular blood donors and 500 donors who have the same medical and demographic characteristics or did not participate in regular blood donation were included in the regular blood donation group ( n = 800 ) and irregular blood donation group ( n = 500 ). The clinical data of 300 potential donors from May 2014 to May 2015 were collected and randomly divided into the study group (n = 150 )and the control group( n = 150)by double blind method. According to the follow-up results, the study group was given targeted health education, and the control group was not informed of the follow-up results. The incidence of thrombotic disease and other related diseases within 2 years were followed up, and the status of blood donation was compared between the study group and the control group. Results The incidence rate of thrombotic disease and other related diseases in the regular blood donation group( 10. 88% )was significantly lower than that in the irregular blood donation group ( 19.60% ) ( P 〈 0. 05 ). The total rate of blood donation in the study group (69.33%)was significantly higher than that in the control group (54.00%) (P 〈 0. 05 ). In the study group, the proportions of donors who donated 300 ml, 400 ml and more than twice the amount of blood donation 〉 400 ml were significantly higher than those in the control group ( P 〈 0. 05 ). Conclusion Regular blood donation can reduce the risk of thrombotic diseases and related diseases, which can significantly improve the blood volume donated by potential donors.
