The different specifications of IEC 62209-1：2005 and 2016 versions for the SAR testing, and the importance of test specification in the new version is introduced. The Fast SAR method, test reduction, tissue-equivalent liquid and frequency range are analyzed in detail. The future development direction of IEC 62209-1 is pointed out.
