摘要
清代江南官绅与商贾用偏见、蔑视的眼光看待脚夫。繁荣的江南社会中,官府往往片面看待生活在社会下层的脚夫倚仗豪强、划分地界、结伙抬价等耀武扬威的现象。下层脚夫的结伙行为,被看成是地方安全的隐患,脚夫结伙成了江南社会稳定的威胁。江南官府将其视同无赖恶棍之类,处理脚夫问题总是过于草率与简单,官绅呈现一边倒的趋势。官方文献中,清代江南脚夫总呈现出负面的历史形象,有清一代,江南下层脚夫承受过多的社会偏见,被视为社会阶层中的"异类"。
Jiangnan officials and merchants in Qing Dynasty looked at the porters with prejudice and contempt. In the prosperous Jiangnan society, the govemment often held one-sided view on the under-class porters＇conquering behaviors, such as their relying on tyranny, dividing boundaries, bidding up the price, etc. The porters＇gang behaviors were regarded as risks to the social security, so they were thought as villains who threatened social stability and security. Therefore, when dealing with the porters, the officials always appeared too hasty and simple, agreed by nearly all the other officials. In the official literature of Qing Dynasty, the porters in Jiangnan were described as negative image, who bore too much social prejudice, regarded as the ＂heterogeneous＇in the social class.
