摘要
在中国早期现代化的征程中,张謇是一个伟大的开拓者,是一个公认的英雄。但是,由于中国早期现代化环境的恶劣,以及主体自身的传统文化包袱过重,张謇又不得不扮演一个悲剧性的历史人物。解读《张謇与南通区域早期现代化研究》一书,其主要目的是要解决当代中国现代化进程中出现的新问题。正是这种“当代史”的需要,要求张謇早期现代化实践的历史再度发言。
During the early stage of the modernization drive in China, Zhang Jian was a great pioneer and a generally acknowledged hero. But, as China＇ s environment in the early period of the modernization drive was abominable, and because he was overburdened with his traditional culture, Zhang Jian became a tragic historical personage. Reading and commenting on A Great Tragic Hero： A Study ofZhang Jian and Early Modernization of Nantong, we can find that the author＇ s main intention is to make effort to solve the new problems cropping up in the course of the modernization drive in contemporary China.
