In Outlaws of the Marsh, the description that Gao Qiu takes an adopted son implies that Gao was castrated as eunuchs. There are at least six places associated with Su Shi, in the form of using Su's deeds, praising Su's calligraphy, quoting Su's comments, or quoting Su's poetry. These ar- rangements not only add an elegant artistic flavor to Outlaws of the Marsh, but also reflect these no-vels' love on Su Shi. In addition, Outlaws of the Marsh also includes anti-imitations on Bai Juyi's " Pipa song" and Su Shi's "Water Song".
