摘要
社会认同是指社会个体对特定社会群体在情感上的归属感,需要从社会群体对个人自身利益满足等方面获取与实现。19世纪中后期,教会大学伴着西学东渐的潮流,跻身中国高等教育的舞台。虽然产生的背景复杂,文化侵略的原罪难辞,但面对来自中国社会各个阶层的抵制,教会大学在基督教服务理念的指引下,利用他们在医学、农学、林学、植物学和社会学等现代科学知识方面的优势资源,为农村平民子弟免费提供教育机会,在中国农村开展广泛的普及教育、农业科技帮扶、乡村社区建设、基础医疗卫生等公共事业服务,赢得了中国众多底层个体的社会认同,奠定了教会大学在华百年发展的坚实基础。借鉴教会大学的服务理念和做法,中国大学应在去功利化中推进服务社会的务实程度和贡献力度,在与社会的融合中建设一流学科和一流大学。
Social identity involves individuals' emotional clinging to certain social groups,with a particular sense of belonging,which is typically achieved when the social group confers adequate benefits on the individuals.In the second half of the 19 th century,Christian Universities ascended the stage of China's higher education in the tide of Eastward Dissemination of Western Learning.Despite the complex backgrounds,and original sin of cultural invasion,as well as resistance from Chinese society,Christian universities carried the service idea and made full use of their superior resources in modern scientific knowledge,such as medicine,agriculture,forestry,plantation,sociology,etc.In addition,to offer free education opportunities for youths of humble families,and to provide large-scale public service in universal education of agriculture,agriculture technology aid,rural community construction,and basic medical care,Christian universities won social applause from the lowest level of China,which laid a solid foundation for their years of prosperity in China.Following the brilliant example of Christian Universities implementing service work,Chinese universities are expected to reject utilitarianism,and promote the level of social service and potency of contribution,integrating the construction of first-class disciplines and universities with their social service.
